Lymphatic Manual Drainage Massage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage, or MLD, is a gentle yet powerful form of bodywork that stimulates and encourages the natural movement of the lymph.

The lymph system carries waste away from the tissues, cleans the fluid, and returns the clean lymph fluid back towards the heart. This process results in detoxification and reduces swelling.

MLD is based on gentle, rhythmic, and constant movements that mimic the rhythm of the body’s lymphatic system.

Although lymphatic massage may not be as common as other types of massage modalities, the benefits that it provides are numerous.

MLD will benefit you if you are feeling:

Health Reasons for Lymph Drainage Massage

MLD is indicated for many including healthy individuals wanting to boost their immune system or those with (but not limited to) the following conditions:

Who should NOT get a lymphatic massage?

Contraindications include:

• Congestive heart failure
• Acute deep vein thrombosis
• Kidney disorders
• Pulmonary edema
• Acute inflammation or malignancies
• Arteriosclerosis
• Acute (experiencing symptoms) cold/flu/bronchitis
• Fever
• Acute Infection (ex., Cellulitis)
